by elimination method
4x + 6y =16
4(x+3y =4
4x +12y = 16
now using elimination method
4x+6y=16
4x+12y=16
- - -
0 -6y = 0
y = o/-6
y = 0 put the value in equation 1st
4x+6y=16
4x+6(0) = 16
4x+0=16
4x=16
x=16/4
x=4
y=0

The solution is x = 4 and y = 0

Solution:

Given system of equations are:

4x + 6y = 16 ---------- eqn 1

x + 3y = 4 ------- eqn 2

We have to solve the equations

Multiply eqn 2 by -4

-4x - 12y = -16 ------- eqn 3

Add eqn 1 and eqn 3

4x + 6y = 16

-4x - 12y = -16

( + ) ---------------

-6y = 0

y = 0

Substitute y = 0 in eqn 2

x + 3(0) = 4

x = 4

Thus solution is x = 4 and y = 0
