Let the first group students be x

Then second group is x-5

now fifth group is x-5

then forth group is (x-5)+3

now third group is [(x-5)+3]+2

now

the total sum is 48

thus

x+x-5+x-5+(x-5)+3+[(x-5)+3]+2 = 48

now solve and get the answer
