Now, we know that,

Sum of all angles of a triangle is 180.

So,

 x + y + 50 \degree = 180 \degree

 \implies y + 115 \degree = 180 \degree

 \implies y   =( 180  - 115)\degree

 \implies y   =65 \degree

Now,

a = 180 \degree - x \degree

 = 180 \degree - 65 \degree

 = 115 \degree

Also,

 \angle b =   \angle a

 = 115 \degree

(Since, the angles are vertically opposite angles)
