Let the first number be x and second number be y
According to the question
Ratio given x:y=1:2
x/y=1/2
cross multiply
2x=y _________(1)

And
(x-5):(y+4)=5:4
(x-5)/(y+4)=5/4
cross multiply
4x-20=5y+20
4x-5y=40
4x-5(2x)=40. (from (1))
4x-10x=40
-6x = 40
x= -40/6 = -20/3
putting value of x in equation (1)
we get ,
y= -40/3

Hence the two numbers are -20/3 and -40/3
And it is absolutely write answer Don't get confused
I already verify it
