1. Evaluate:

(a) (5)³ = 5 × 5 × 5 = 125

(b) (20)³ = 20 × 20 × 20 = 8000

(c) (- 33)³ = (- 33) × (- 33) × (- 33) = - 35937

(d) (- 51)³ = (- 51) × (- 51) × (- 51) = - 132651

(e) (- 1.5)³ = (- 1.5) × (- 1.5) × (- 1.5) = - 3.375

(f) (2/7)³ = 2³/7³ = (2 × 2 × 2)/(7 × 7 × 7) = 8/343

2. Find the cube:

(a) (15)³ = 15 × 15 × 15 = 3375

(b) (60)³ = 60 × 60 × 60 = 216000

(c) (3.1)³ = 3.1 × 3.1 × 3.1 = 29.791

(d) (3/5)³ = 3³/5³ = (3 × 3 × 3)/(5 × 5 × 5) = 27/125

(e) (- 1/7)³ = (- 1)³/7³ = {(- 1) × (- 1) × (- 1)}/(7 × 7 × 7) = - 1/343

3. Find perfect cube:

(a) 1125 = 3 × 3 × 5 × 5 × 5

1125 is not a perfect cube because it has two 3s, instead of three 3s.

(b) 3136 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 7 × 7

3136 is not a perfect cube because it has two 7s, instead of three 7s.

(c) 17576 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 13 × 13 × 13

17156 is a perfect cube because it has both three 2s and three 13s.

∴ 17576 = 2 × 13 × 2 × 13 × 2 × 13 = 26 × 26 × 26

(26)³ = 17576

(d) 39304 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 17 × 17 × 17

39304 is a perfect cube because it has both three 2s and three 17s.

∴ 39304 = 2 × 17 × 2 × 17 × 2 × 17 = 34 × 34 × 34

(34)³ = 39304

(e) 9261 = 3 × 3 × 3 × 7 × 7 × 7

9261 is a perfect cube because it has both three 3s and three 7s.

∴ 9261 = 3 × 7 × 3 × 7 × 3 × 7 = 21 × 21 × 21

(21)³ = 9261

(f) 8000 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 5

8000 is a perfect cube because it has both six 2s and three 5s.

∴ 8000 = 2 × 2 × 5 × 2 × 2 × 5 × 2 × 2 × 5 = 20 × 20 × 20

(20)³ = 8000

(g) 5324 = 2 × 2 × 11 × 11 × 11

5324 is not a perfect cube because it has two 2s, instead of three 2s.

(h) 3375 = 3 × 3 × 3 × 5 × 5 × 5

3375 is a perfect cube because it has both three 3s and three 5s.

∴ 3375 = 3 × 5 × 3 × 5 × 3 × 5 = 15 × 15 × 15

(15)³ = 3375
