( i ) :  5x / 2 + 7 = 17

5x / 2 + 7 = 17

⇒ 5x / 2 = 17 - 7

⇒ 5x = 10

⇒ x = 10 / 5

⇒ x = 2

Therefore the value of x satisfying the given equation is 2.

( ii ) : 5x - 3( x + 2 ) = 4x - 8

⇒ 5x - 3( x + 2 ) = 4x - 8

⇒ 5x - 3x - 2 = 4x - 8

⇒ 2x - 2 = 4x - 8

⇒ 8 - 2 = 4x - 2x

⇒ 6 = 2x

⇒ 6 / 2 = x

⇒ 3 = x

Therefore the value of x satisfying the given equation is 3.

(1) 5X/2 + 7 = 17

5X/2 = 10

5X = 20

X = 4

(2) 5X - 3 ( X + 2 ) = 4X - 8

=> 5X - 3X - 6 = 4X - 8

=> 2X = 2

=> X = 1
