(i) -9 = 2x + x

=> -9 = 3x
=> -9/3 = x
=> -3 = x
=> x = -3

(ii) -93 = 6(x-8) + 3

=> -93 = 6x - 48 + 3
=> -93 = 6x - 45
=> -93 + 45 = 6x
=> -48 = 6x
=> -48/6 = x
=> -8 = x
=> x = -8
