A nutrient can be defined as a substance which an organism obtain its food from surroundings and uses it as a source of energy for the biosynthesis of its body constituents(open like tissues and organs)

example: carbohydrates and fats

Macro nutrients and Micro nutrients

Macro nutrient is one which is needed in very small amount.They are chemicals.

eg Carbohydrates, lipids and protiens

Micro nutrient is one which is needed in large amount.

eg Sodium chloride,citric acid and copper

Sources of these nutrients

Both are directly obtained from food sources.
