Dear Student,

Q.3.

It is important to balance a given chemical reaction, before calculating the amount of Cl2liberated, so that we know exactly, how much amount of reactant (NaCl) is utilized in formation of the product.

Therefore, the balanced chemical equation is :

2NaCl + MnO2 + H2 SO4 ---------- 2NaHSO4 + MnSO4 + Cl2 + 2H2O

From the balanced equation, it is evident that 2 moles (2 x 58.5) g of NaCl produces 1 mole (35.5 g) of Cl2 gas.

Therefore, 50 g of NaCl will produce (50 x 35.5) / (2 x 58.5) = 15.17 g of Cl2 gas.

35.5 g of Cl2 gas (1 mole) = 22.4 L of Cl2 gas.

So, 15.17 g of Cl2 gas = (22.4 x 15.17) / 35.5 = 9.57 L of Cl2 gas.

Q.4.

Atomic weight of Fe2O3 = 159.69

Atomic weight of 2 Fe atoms = 55.845

Two tonnes of 94% pure Fe2O3 = 2*0.94

tonnes of Fe2O3 = 1.88 tonnes of 100% pure Fe2O3

Weight of Iron = (2x55.845/159.69)*1.88

= 1.315 tonnes

= 1315 kg

Q.5.

CaC2(s) + 2H2O(l) --------------->      Ca(OH)2  +  C2H2

moles of CaC2 = 100/64

 therfore

moles of actelyne is also =  100/64.

Volume at NTP would be = moles of acetylene * 22.4  hence

= 22.4* 100/64

= 35 lit.
