root 5=p/q
root 5q=p
p=5q,square (1)
if psquare divides 5 then
p also divides 5
p=5m
p,square=25 m, Square
putting value of p, Square in equ.(1),then
25m, Square =5q, Square
5m, square=q,square
if q, Square divides 5
then q also divided 5
so, both have common factor
hence our assumptions is wrong root 5 is a irrational no.
if root 5 is irrational then whole equ. is irrational
