= ( 5 + √3 ) / ( 7 – 4√3 ) × ( 7 + 4√3 ) / ( 7 + 4√3 )

= [ ( 5 + √3 ) ( 7 + 4√3 ) ] / [(7)² – (4√3)² ]

= [ 5 ( 7 + 4√3 ) + √3 ( 7 + 4√3 ) ] / ( 49 – 48 )

= 35 + 20√3 + 7√3 + 12

= 47 – 27√3

Thus, a = 47 and b = 27.
