Answer: New Avg is 126

Step-by-step explanation:

Total avg.=18*124

=2232

wrong obs.=64 & 28

Avg without in correct nos.=2232-(64+28)

=2232-92

=2140

Corrected obs.=46 & 82

New total=2140+46+82

=2268

therefore,New Avg.=2268/18

Let the sum of 18 observations be ‘x’

Then average of 18 observations = \(\frac{{sum\ of\ 18\ observations}}{{18}}\)

\(\Rightarrow 124 = \frac{x}{{18}}\)

⇒ x = 124 × 18

We get the sum as 124 × 18

It is given that the values 64 and 28 were wrongly entered as 46 and 82

Let the new sum be ‘y’

Then,

y = 124 × 18 – 46 – 82 + 64 + 28 (subtracting the wrong values and adding the correct values)

⇒ y = 124 × 18 – 36

∴ Correct average = \(\frac{{124 \times 18 - 36}}{{18}}\)

⇒ Correct average = 124 – 2

⇒ Correct average = 122

Hope it helps

Take care
