Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

PQRS and ABRS are parallelograms.

To prove:-

i) ar(PQRS)=ar(ABRS)

ii) ar (AXS)= 1/2 ar(PQRS)

Proof:-

PQ║RS

∵PQ extended to B, PB║RS

∴║gms lying between same base(RS) and same parallel(PB║RS)ARE equal in area.

∴ar(PQRS)=ar(ABRS)

If a triangle and a ║qm are on the same base and between the same parallels then area of triangle is half times area of ║gm.

In ΔAXS and ║gm ABRS.

Same base⇒AS

Same parallel⇒AS║BR

∴ar(AXS)= 1/2 ar(ABRS)

∵ from i)

∴ar(AXS)= 1/2 ar(PQRS) because ar(PQRS) =ar(ABRS)
