By finding the average speed of the cycle we will get the time

S1= 8Km/hr ------ 11am

S2= 12 Km/hr ---- 9am

Average Speed,S=(12+8)/2=10Km/hr ------10am

So the speed of the cycle is 10 Km/hr

Answer:

Option - 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the distance be 'd'.

(i)

He cycles at the speed of 8 km/hr.

t = (d/s)

  = d/8.

(ii)

He cycles at the speed of 12 km/hr.

t = (d/s)

  = d/12.

Difference between their time = 2 hours.

⇒ (d/8) - (d/12) = 2

⇒ (d/24) = 2

⇒ d = 48 km.

On substituting d in (i), we get

⇒ t = (d/8)

⇒ t = 6 hours

On substituting d in (ii), we get

⇒ t = (d/48)

⇒ t = 1 hour.

So,

Time at which he left the office = 11 - 6 = 5 hours.

Now, to reach the office at 10 am,then time required to cover the distance = 10 - 5 = 5 hours.

Therefore, Speed required = (48/5) = 9.6 km/hr

Hope it helps!
