An elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 6m/minute, if the descent starts from 10m above the ground level, how long will it take to reach -350m

present position of the elevator is at 10 m above ground level.

Distance to be moved by the elevator below the ground level : 350 m

so,total distance to be moved by the elevator

= 350meters + 10 meters = 360 meters

rate of descent = 6meters/minute

time taken = total distance/ rate of descent

= 360/6meters/minute

=60 minutes

therefore required time = 60 minutes (or 1 complete hour)
