According to question:

 \frac{6x - 7}{3x + 2}  =  \frac{5}{8}

by cross multiply:

8(6x - 7) = 5(3x + 2)

48x - 56 = 15x + 10

48x - 15x = 10 + 56

33x = 66

x =  \frac{66}{33}

x = 2
