Let 1/x be a and 1/y be b
then,
15a + 2b = 17.........eq1
a + b = 36/5..........eq2
Multiplying 15 to eq2 we have
15a + 15b = 108........eq3
Comparing eq1 and eq2 we get
15a + 2b = 17
15a + 15b = 108
—————————
-13b= -91
b= 7
Putting value of b in eq1
15a + 2(7)= 17
15a + 14= 17
15a = 3
a= 1/5
Now,
a= 1/x=1/5
x= 5
b=1/y= 7
y = 1/7
then,
15a + 2b = 17.........eq1
a + b = 36/5..........eq2
Multiplying 15 to eq2 we have
15a + 15b = 108........eq3

x= 5
b=1/y= 7
y = 1/7
