so, the new equation formed:

0x + 5y =  20

           y = 20/5

           y = 4

now put the value of y in eq. 1

3x - 2*4 = 1

3x - 8 = 1

3x = 9

x = 9/3 = 3

∴ x = 3

  y = 4

2) 3x + 2y = 12          (eq.1)

   5x - 2y  = 4           (eq.2)

   8x         = 16

     x = 16/8

     x = 2

now put the value of x in eq.1

3*2 + 2y = 12

6 + 2y = 12

2y = 12-6 = 6

y = 6/2 = 3

∴ x = 2

  y = 3
