Hi.

Here, Let one swimming boy be represented by α.

Surfing boy be represented by β.

And, Drop of water be represented by γ.

Now, In first row, it is given that

α + α = 10

⇒ 2α = 10

α = 10/2 = 5

In the second row,

β + β = 8

⇒ 2β = 8

β = 8/2 = 4

In the third row,

γ + γ = 6

⇒ 2γ = 6

γ = 6/2 = 3

Question: Find α * β - γ.

α = 5

β = 4

γ = 3

∴ α * β - γ = 5 * 4 - 3 = 20 - 3 (Because BODMAS says that multiplication first and then subtraction.) = 17

Hope it helps.

First Row :

⇒ (Swimmer + Small Drop) + (Swimmer + Small Drop) = 10

⇒ 2 × (Swimmer + Small Drop) = 10

⇒ (Swimmer + Small Drop) = 5

⇒ Swimmer = 2.5

⇒ Small Drop = 2.5

Second Row :

⇒ Surfing Boy + Surfing Boy = 8

⇒ 2 × (Surfing Boy) = 8

⇒ Surfing Boy = 4

Third Row :

⇒ 2 × (Big Drop) + Big Drop = 6

⇒ 3 × Big Drop = 6

⇒ Big Drop = 2

Fourth Row :

⇒ Only Swimmer × Surfing Boy - (Small Drop + Big Drop)

⇒ 2.5 × 4 - (2.5 + 2)

⇒ 10 - (4.5)

⇒ 5.5
