k = ±6 .

Given :-

  • Equation, 16x² + 4kx + 9 = 0
  • Roots are real and equal.

To Find :-

  • Value of k.

Solution :-

Given that, 16x² + 4kx + 9 = 0

On comparing with ax² + bx + c = 0 we get,

=> a = 16 , b = 4k , c = 9

  • Roots are real and equal.

.°. Δ = 0

=> b² - 4ac = 0

=> (4k)² - 4×16×9 = 0

=> 16k² - 576 = 0

=> 16k² = 576

=> k² = 576/16

=> k² = 36

=> k = ±6 .

Hence,

  • The value of k is ±6.
