Step-by-step explanation:

first think let 1÷x=a and 1÷y =b

then solve it by any method but i did it with substitution method

i got a=13/11 and b=8/11

at last by cross multiply x=11/14 and y=11/8

1/7x + 1/6y =3, 1/2x -1/3y = 5

let 1/x be a

and 1/y be b

a/7+b/6 = 3, a/2-b/3=5

6a+7b/42=3

6a+7b=126.....1

3a-2b/6=5

3a-2b=30.....2

multiplying equation 2 with 2

(3a-2b)2=30*2

6a-4b=60........3

subtracting equation 3 from 1

(6a+7b)-(6a-4b)=126-30

6a+7b-6a+4b=66

11b=66

b=6

now 3a-2b=30

3a-2×6=30

3a-12=30

3a=30+12

3a=42

a=14

now as b=1/y. and a=1/x

6=1/y. ,. 14=1/x

y=1/6. ,. x=1/14
