Solution :-

Method (1) :-

• Rewrite in standard form.

=> x/4 + x/6 - x/3 - x/2 = 5/3

=> 12 × x/4 + 12 × x/6 - 12 × x/3 - 12× x/2 = 5/3

[ Multiply by 12 on both sides ]

=> 3x + 2x - 4x - 6x = 5 × 4

=> 5x - 10x = 20

=> -5x = 20

=> x = 20/-5

=> x = -4 .

Method (2) :-

• Rewrite in implicit form.

=> x/4 + x/6 - x/3 - x/2 = 5/3

=> -5x/12= 5/3

=> -5x/12 - 5/3 = 0

=> 12 × -5x/12 - 12 × -5/3 = 0 × 12

[ Multiply by 12 on both sides ]

=> -5x - 20 = 0

=> -5x = 20

=> x = -4 .
