a+b=7-----(ii)

(i)+(ii), we get

a-b+a+b= 1+7

=> 2a = 8

=> a = 8/2

=> a = 4 .

Now , putting the value of a in equation (ii) , we get

=> a + b = 7

=> 4 + b = 7

=> b = 7-4

=> b = 3 .
