Solve this equation by elimination method.
1. 3x+2y=7----------(1)
2x+y=7------------(2)

S O L U T I O N :

• By Elimination Method :

• 3x + 2y = 7.................(1)
• 2x + y = 7...................(2)

Now,

Multiply by 2 in equation (2),we get;

$\mapsto\tt{2(2x + y =7)}$

$\mapsto\tt{4x + 2y = 14.............(3)}$

∴ Subtracting in equation (1) & (3),we get;

$\mapsto\tt{4x - 3x + 2y - 2y = 14 - 7}$

$\mapsto\tt{x+ 0 = 7}$

$\mapsto\bf{x = 7}$

∴ Putting the value of x in equation (1),we get;

$\mapsto\tt{3(7) + 2y = 7}$

$\mapsto\tt{21 + 2y = 7}$

$\mapsto\tt{ 2y = 7 - 21}$

$\mapsto\tt{ 2y = -14}$

$\mapsto\tt{y = -\cancel{14/2}}$

$\mapsto\bf{y = -7}$

Thus,

The value of x & y will be 7 & -7 .
