Answer:

15/4 = 3.75

so equation is

3.75 - 7x = 9

Step-by-step explanation:

Transpose 7x to RHS and 9 to LHS.

this gives

3.75 - 9 = 7x

-5.25 = 7x

divide both sides by 7,

x = -5.25 ÷ 7

9

Given :-

\dfrac{15}{4} -7x=9

To find :-

Value of x

SOLUTION:-

\dfrac{15}{4} -7x=9

Take L.C.M to the denominator

L.C.M of 4,1 is 4

\dfrac{15(1)-7x(4)}{4} =9

\dfrac{15-28x}{4} =9

Do cross multiplication

15-28x = 4(9)

15-28x=36

Transpose 36 to L.H.S and -28x to R.H.S

15-36=28x

-21=28x

x= \dfrac{-21}{28}

x=\dfrac{-3}{4}

VERIFICATION:-

Substitute value of x it should be equal to R.H.S

\dfrac{15}{4} -7\bigg(\dfrac{-3}{4}\bigg)=9

\dfrac{15}{4} +\dfrac{21}{4} =9

\dfrac{15+21}{4} =9

\dfrac{36}{4} =9

9=9

SSO, L.H.S =R.H.S

Hence verified!

So, the value of x is -3/4
