Hi !

x + 5 = 3y + 15

x = 3y + 15 - 5
Substitute this value in equ. [ 1]
x = 3y +10

x - 5 = 7y - 35 ----> [ 1 ]

3y + 10 - 5 = 7y - 35

3y + 5 = 7y - 35

5 + 35 = 7y - 3y

40 = 4y

y = 40/4

y = 10

We have now got the value of y

x = 3y + 10
= 3 x 10 + 10
= 30 + 10
= 40
