Given :-

AB = AC
BD perpendicular to AC


To prove :-

BD² - DC² = 2 AD . DC

Proof :

Applying Pythagoras theorem in ∆ BAD

AB² = AD² + DB² ........ (1)

AC = AD + DC = AB

SO , IN EQUATION (1)

( AD + DC )² = AD² + DB²

AD² + DC² + 2 AD . DC = AD² + DB²

DC² + 2 AD . DC = DB²

BD² - DC² = 2 AD . DC


HENCE PROVED
