Ans: option (c)

step by step procedure

Let α and β are the roots of x^2 - px + q =0

Sum of the roots (α+β) = -b/a = -( -p) = p

product of the roots (αβ) = c/a = q

Given ,difference of roots (α - β) = - 1

we know,

α -β = √(α+β)^2 - 4αβ

(-1) = √ (p)^2 - 4 q

Therefore p^2 - 4q = 1 ( squaring both

sides)
