Question :

A ball is thrown vertically upward with an initial velocity of 20m/s by applying the force of 5N. Calculate the work done by the ball to reach up to the top of most point.

★ Work done is defined as the product of force and displacement. W = F d

Here value of force is given in the question so we just have to calculate maximum height attained by the ball.

From the third equation of kinematics,

➝ v² - u² = 2gH

At maximum height, v = 0

➝ -20² = 2(-10)H

➝ H = 400/20

➝ H = 20m

Therefore ball will rise to height of 20m.

By substituting the values in the equation of work done, we get ;

➝ W = F d

➝ W = 5 × 20

W = 100 J
