We know that :
T = 2π √( l / g )
Solve using differentiation :
dl = 1
db = ?
Now :
√2 T = 2π ( √( l / g ( 1 - dl / db ) )
==> √2 T = T ( √ 1 / 1 - dl / db )
Cancel T both sides
==> √2 = 1 / √ ( 1 / ( 1 - dl / db ) )
==> 2 = 1 / ( 1 - dl / db )
dl = 1 [ given ]
==> 2 = 1 / ( 1 - 1 / db )
==> 2 = db / ( db - 1 )
==> 2 db - 2 = db
==> db = 2
Hence the density is 2
