a basket contains three types of fruit weighing 38 1/3kg in all. if 7 1/9kg of these are oranges, 8 1/5 kg are pineapples and rest are melons, what is the weight of the melons in the basket?

\underline{\underline{\maltese\: \: \textbf{\textsf{Answer}}}}

some terms are

 \sf \: 38  \frac{1}{3} = 38 +  \frac{1}{3}  \\  \\  \sf \: 7  \frac{1}{9}  = 7 +  \frac{1}{9}  \\  \\  \sf \: 8  \frac{1}{5}  = 8 +  \frac{1}{5}

now question asked third type of fruit

 \sf38 +  \frac{1}{3}  = 7 +  \frac{1}{9}  + 8+  \frac{1}{5}  + a \\  \\  \sf \: a = 23 + (  \frac{1}{3}  -  \frac{1}{9}  -  \frac{1}{5} ) \\  \\  \sf \: a = 23 + (  \frac{3}{9}  -  \frac{1}{9}  -  \frac{1}{5} ) \\  \\  \sf \: a = 23 +  \frac{2}{9}  - \frac{1}{5}   \\  \\  \sf \: a = 23 +  \frac{1}{45}  \\  \\  \sf \red{a = 23  \frac{1}{45}   \: kg }\:  of \:  third  \: type
