in a right angled triangle ACB

Hypotenuse= AB= 13 cm.

BC= 5 cm

now,

by pythagoras theorem,

AC= 12 cm.

now,

cos B= CB/AB= adjacent side/ hypotenuse.

cos B = 5/13

cos2 B= 25/169.....(1)

now,

sin A = CB/ AB

= 5/13

sin2 A = 25/169....(2)

now from (1) &(2),

cos2B + sin2A= 25/169+25/169

= 25+25/169

= 50/169
