solutions: x-2y = 5 .......(1)

2x-4y= 6 ........(2)

from equation (1),

x-2y = 5

x= 5+2y .......(3)

in equation (3) put the value of x (2).

2x-4y = 6

2(5+2y) -4y = 6

10 + 4y -4 y = 6

10 - 0 = 6

= 6-10

= - 4

substituting the value of y in (1)

x - 2y = 5

x - 2(-4) = 5

x - 8 = 5

x= 5+8

x= 13.
