Given :-

  • The signal travels in a straight line, the distance between the spaceship and the ground station is equal to the total distance travelled by the signal.

To find :-

  • The distance of the spaceship from the ground station.

solution :-

:\implies\sf time \: taken  = 5min = 5 \times 60s = 300s \\  \\  \\   \\:\implies\sf  \: now \: speed \: of \: the \: signal \:  = 3 \times  {10}^{8}\frac{m}{s}  \\  \\  \\  \\ :\implies\sf  \: therefore \: distance = (3 \times  {10}^{8} \frac{m}{s})\times 300s \\  \\  \\  \\ :\implies\sf  \: 9 \times  {10}^{10}meters

so therefore The distance of the spaceship from the ground station is 9 × 10¹⁰ meters.

Answer:

Given :-

  • During an experiment, a single from a spaceship reached the ground station in five minutes.
  • The signal travels at the speed light i.e, 3 × 10⁸ m/s.

To Find :-

  • What is the distance of the spaceship from the ground station

Formula Used :-

\clubsuit Distance Formula :

\mapsto \sf\boxed{\bold{\pink{Distance =\: Speed \times Time}}}

Solution :-

First, we have to convert the time minutes into seconds :

\implies \sf Time =\: 5\: minutes

\implies \sf Time =\: 5 \times 60\: seconds\: \: \bigg\lgroup \sf\bold{\pink{1\: minutes =\: 60\: seconds}}\bigg\rgroup\\

\implies \sf\bold{\purple{Time =\: 300\: seconds}}

Now, we have to find the distance of the spaceship from the ground station :

Given :

\bigstar\: \: \bf{Speed =\: 3 \times 10^8\: m/s}

\bigstar\: \: \bf{Time =\: 300\: seconds}

According to the question by using the formula we get,

\longrightarrow \sf Distance =\: 3 \times 10^8 \times 300

\longrightarrow \sf Distance =\: 3 \times 300 \times 10^8

\longrightarrow \sf Distance =\: 900 \times 10^8

\longrightarrow \sf Distance =\: 9 \times 100 \times 10^8

\longrightarrow \sf Distance =\: 9 \times 10^{10}\: m

{\small{\bold{\underline{\therefore\: The\: distance\: of\: the\: spaceship\: from\: the\: ground\: station\: is\: 9 \times 10^{10}\: m\: .}}}}
