In place of alpha and beta ,let us take the zeroes as m and n as they will be easier to write.

We know that m+n= -b/a= -(-8)=8

mxn=c/a=k

Using (a+b)2= a^2+b^2+2ab,

82=m^2+n^2+2mn

m^2+n^2=40.

Putting the value in the above equation,

64=40+2k

24=2k

k=12
