If we have masses

m_1,m_2......m_n

at points

x_1,x_2....x_n

along the x-axis,then the moment of system around the origin is

M_0 = m_1x_1+m_2x_2+........+m_nx_n

The center of mass of the system is

X =  \frac{M_0}{m}

where  \: m = m_1+m_2+......+m_n

So,

X =  \frac{m_1x_1+m_2x_2+........+m_nx_n}{m_1+m_2+......+m_n}
