Avg speed = total distance/total time
Total distance = 100 + 100 = 200
Because the car returns also so it travels 2 time.
Time1 = Distance1/speed1
= 100/60
= 5/3hr

Time2 = 100/40
= 5/2hr

Now average speed =
 \frac{100 + 100}{ \frac{5}{3}  +  \frac{5}{2} }  \\  =  \frac{200}{ \frac{10 + 15}{6} }  \\  =  \frac{200}{ \frac{25}{6} }  \\  =  \frac{200 \times 6}{25}  \\  = 48
his average speed was 48km/hr

Hope it helps dear friend ☺️✌️✌️

total distance =100+100=200 km
total time=100/60+100/40
=5/3+5/2
=25/6 km/h
average speed = total distance/total time
=200×6/25
=48 km/h
