Step-by-step explanation:

Filling takes 5 hr . = 300mt.

In one min. the filling rate = V/300

Emptying time is 8 hr.

Ine min.emptying rate = V/480

If both the taps are open ,Simultaneously the tank water filling rate/min.

= V/300 -V/480

= V( 8-5)/2400

= V3/2400

= V/800.

So,the tank get filled up in 800 Mt. or 800/60 = 13 hrs.20 min.

  • Tank is filled in 5hrs.
  • And emptied by outlet in 8hrs.
  • And both taps are opened together.

\color{red}\huge{\underline{\underline{SOLUTION\dag}}}

The tank filled in 1 hour=\frac{1}{5}

The tank emptied in 1 hour=\frac{1}{8}

when both taps are opened(together);

Tank filled in 1 hour=\frac{1}{5}-\frac{1}{8}

=\frac{3}{40}

So,the tank will be filled in,

{\boxed{\color{orange}\therefore \frac{40}{3}hrs.}}

(or)

{\boxed{\color{orange}\therefore 13hours.\:20minutes}}
