3x+2y=29 - 1st equation
5x-y=18 2nd equation multiply whole equation by 2
now we get
3x+2y=29
+10x-2y=36
add 1 and 2 we get
13x=65
x=65/13=5
now put in 2nd eq.
5(5)-y=18
25-y=18
25-18=y
7=y
and x=5

hope it is clear

3x+2y=29.......................eq. 1
5x-y=18.......................eq. 2
from eq. 1
2y=29-3x
x=29-2y/2.............eq. 3
putting value of x in eq. 2
5(29-2y/2)-y=18
144-10y/2-y=18
144-10y-2/2=18
144-8y/2=18
144-8y=36
-8y=36-144
-8y=-108
y=-108/-8
y=27/2
putting valu of y in eq. 3
x=29-2y/2
x=29-2(27/2)/2
x=0ans...
