In metallurgy, a flux (derived from Latin fluxus meaning “flow”) is a chemicalcleaning agent, flowing agent, or purifying agent. Fluxes may have more than one function at a time. They are used in both extractive metallurgy and metal joining.

Acidic flux: Acidic flux are those fluxwhich comes from substances like Lewis acid such as SiO2, H3PO4, HCl etc. Acidic flux is used in metal welding or extractive metallurgy or Smelting.
