Hii,

In figure 1, Break it into a square and rectangle.

So, Rectangle sides will be 5 and 3. Area of rectangle = l*b and hence 5*3. Now find square area, 3*3. Add them.

Figure 1 area = 15+9 = 24sq.cm

Similarly by breaking figure 2 into rectangle, square and rectangle,

18 + 4 + 20 = 42sq.cm
