as we know that area of a circle

 = 2 \: \pi\: r

In a cylinder there are two circles and a curved face that joins the two circles just like the given in the figure. To find the surface area of the cylinder we have to find the area of two squares and add it to the area of the curved face in simple language we can say that surface area of a cylinder is area of two circles in the cylinder + area of curved face curved face so first we have to find the area of the circles that is 2 π r^2 and area of curved face equal perimeter of circle × height of the cylinder

let us make a simple formula :

2 \: \pi \: {r}^{2} + 2 \: \pi \:r \: h \\ = > 2 \: \pi \:r \:(r + h)

i. radius is : 7 cm and height : 12 CM

surface area

2 \: \pi \: r(r + h) \\ = > 2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 7(7 + 12) \\ = > 44 \times 19 \\ = > 836

the answer is 836 square cm
