Solve this problem by substitution method ,a:-)x+y=14and x-y=4​

SOLUTION:

x + y = 14 ------ (a)

x - y = 4 ---------(b)

Adding equation (a) and (b), we get,

(x + y) + (x - y) = 14 + 4

x + y + x - y = 18

2x = 18

x = 18/2

x = 9

Now, putting the value of x in equation (a), we get,

x + y = 14

9 + y = 14

y = 14 - 9

y = 5

Therefore,

  • the value of x and y is 9 and 5 respectively.
