1) Total area of rectangle= Length × Breadth
18cm× 10cm= 180 cm square

Area of DQP= 1/2× Base×Height
1/2× 6cm×10cm=30 cm sq.

Area of PBC= 1/2× Base× height
1/2×8cm×10cm= 40 cm sq.
Therefore;
Total area of two shaded triangles i.e
DQP and PBC= 30 +40= 70 cm sq.

Therefore;
Area of unshaded triangle= 180- 70= 110 cm sq.

2) Total area of square = Side× Side
40cm×40cm = 1600 cm sq.

Area of EXY= 1/2×Base × height
1/2×20×20= 200 cm sq.

Area of GYF= 1/2×20×40= 400 cm sq.

Area of DXG= 1/2×20×40= 400 cm sq.

Therefore;

Total area of the three shaded triangles:
200+400+400= 1000 cm sq.

Therefore;
Area of unshaded region= 1600- 1000 = 600 cm sq.
