Let the speed be x km/hr
Distance=480 km
Time = d/s=480/x hr
When speed is 8 km less
Speed = x-8
Distance=480 ,time= 480/x-8
Therefore,480/(x-8)-480/x=3

x2-8x-128=0
x=8,-16
x=8 km/hr

Jackklue: (x-8)(x+16)=0
mohammadfaheem: we dont have to find the answer we only have the write the equation
mohammadfaheem: to
Jackklue: Then how will you find the speed
Rahi39: we have to find the speed also i.e. the value of x
mohammadfaheem: read the sub heading over the prob in text book we have to represent the statement in the form of an equation
Rahi39: yeah... but in the exam they've asked to find the value of x also... so I didn't get a correct answer so I asked to find x
mohammadfaheem: thats ok
