TO FIND = x ² + 1 / x²

using the identity a²+ 2ab +b²  = (a+b)²

3² = x² + 1 / x² + 2 × (x × 1/x)

9 = x² + 1/x² + 2

9 - 2 = x² + 1/x²

x² + 1/ x² = 7
