To Find :

  • The number on which the calculation has been done
  • How much percent (%) is 20 .

__________________________

Given :

  • 0.5 Per-mille (‰) of the number = 20

__________________________

We know that :

  • 1 per-mille = 1/1000
  • 1 percent = 1/100

__________________________

Let's Assume:

Let the number be x

__________________________

Solution :

given, 0.5 ‰ of x = 20

 \implies \tt{x  \times  \frac{0.5}{1000}  = 20}

 \implies \tt{ \frac{x}{2000}  = 20}

 \tt{ \implies  x = 2000 \times 20}

  \red{ \underline{ \boxed{ \tt{ \therefore \: x = 40000}}}}

so, The number = 40000

__________________________

Let, the percentage be y

so, 20/40000 × 100 = y

 \implies \tt{y =  \frac{1}{2000}  \times 100}

 \tt{ \implies y =  \frac{1}{20} }

 \implies \tt{y = 0.05\%}

Hence, 20 is 0.05% of 40000

__________________________

Additional Information:

  • 1 ‰ = 1/1000
  • 1 % = 1/100
  • 1 % = 10 ‰
  • 10 ‰ = 1/100
  • 100 ‰ = 1/10
  • 1000 ‰ = 1
