Explanation:

1) Equivalent resistance of series combination

Rs = R1 + R2 = 100 + 200 = 300 Ω

error = [∆R1 + ∆R2] = [3+4] = 7 Ω

Equivalent resistance along with error = (300 ± 7) Ω

2) Equivalent resistance in parallel combination is

1/R` = 1/R1 + 1/R2 = 1/100 +1/200 = 3/200

∴R` = 200/3 = 66.7 Ω

error is

∆R` = ∆R1(R`/R1)^2 + ∆R2 (R`/R2)^2

= 3(200/3x100)^2 + 4(200/3 x200)^2

= (3 x4/9) +(4/9)

= 16/9

= 1.78 Ω

Equivalent resistance = (66.7 ±1.78) Ω
