given points A(1,-2) ;B(-3,-4)

the point of trisection divides AB in the ratio 1:2 and 2:1

case1:-

if p divides the line segment in the ratio 1:2 then

p=({mx2+mx1÷m+n}, {my2+my1÷m+n})

{[1(-3)+2(1)÷3],[1(-4)+2(-2)÷3]}

[(-3+2)/3],[-4-4/3]

=(-1/3,-8/3)

in case 2:

if p divides the line segment in the ratio 2:1 then )

p=(2(-3)+1(1)÷3 , 2(-4)+1(-2)÷3)

p= -5/3,-10/2

(-5/3,-5)

so,( -1/3,-8/3) and (-5/3,-5) are the coordinates of the point of trisection
