according to question

n/2{2a'+(n-1)d1}/n/2{2a"+(n-1)d2}=7n-5/5n+17

2a'+(n-1)d1/2a"+(n-1)d2=7n-5/5n+17

reolace n by 2m-1

2a'+(2m-1-1)d1/2a"+(2m-1-1)d2=7(2m-1)-5/5(2m-1)+17

2{a'+(m-1)d1}/2{a"+(m-1)d2} =14m-12/10m+12

a'm/a"m=2(7m-6)/2(5m+6)

a'm/a"m =7m-6/5m+6

a'6/a"6=7×6-6/5×6+6

a'6/a"6=1

a'6=a"6

hence proved

see the solution carefully,u will understand it

a) let the speed of train and car be x and y respectively

now, according to question

250/x +120/y=4........(1)

also

130/x+240/y=4+18/60=4+3/10=4.3 ....(2)

now multiply (1) by 2

500/x+240/y=8..........(3)

subtract( 2)from (3)

370/x=3.7

x=3700/37

x= 100km/hrs

now put this value in first=250/100- 120/y=4

==>250-400/100=120/y

==>150/100=120/y

y=80km/hrs
